PRINCETON REGIONAL PLANNING BOARD NOTICE OF HEARING ON APPLICATION PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., at the Princeton Township Municipal Building, 400 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, New Jersey, the Regional Planning Board of Princeton will hold a public hearing to review a Preliminary and Final Major Site Plan Application submitted by The Hun School of Princeton for the development of a new Global Commons and Resident Life Building. The proposed 2-story building of approximately 29,950 square feet will be located within the E-4 Educational District on Edgerstoune Road, Block 8203, Lot 1 and Block 9301, Lot 21 on the Princeton Township Tax Map (also known as Block 8203, Lot 1.02 and Block 9301, Lots 21.01 and 21.02 on the current tax duplicate in the Princeton Township tax assessor's office), which is part of the Hun School campus. In addition to the housing component of the facility consisting of twenty-eight (28) student dormitory rooms and six (6) staff residences; there will be two (2) classrooms, a bookstore, a student mail room, two (2) staff offices, a central commons and café for informal gatherings, and support spaces. The new building is proposed to house existing Hun School staff and students while maintaining the same overall staff and enrollment levels. Since there will be no increase in students, faculty or staff, there is no additional parking proposed. The site improvements include removal of three tennis courts and replacing them with renovated and resurfaced courts nearby, landscaping, lighting and walkways. Utilities will be upgraded and extended from current sources and underground. In connection with the project, The Hun School is requesting the following variances: (1) Front Yard Setback (75 feet required): The existing tennis courts are approximately 24 feet within the front yard. The three proposed new tennis courts near Edgerstoune Road will be 23.9 feet within the front yard. (2) Side Yard Setback (75 feet required). The existing tennis courts are approximately 58 feet within the side yard. The three proposed new tennis courts near Edgerstoune Road will be 71 feet within the side yard. (3) Lighting (.2 foot-candle level required): The east corner of the patio facing Russell Hall and The Mall will have .1 foot-candle level. (4) Additional Relief: Applicant requests any additional variances, waivers, exceptions or other relief as may be deemed necessary by the Township and/or Planning Board in its review of the application.
